Ignore Certain Model Based Validators

Is there a way to "ignore" certain validators in certain situations.  I see there is a ClientSideValidation.AddRule() method, I would be looking for something like ClientSideValidation.IgnoreRule.

Reason being, the validator makes sense in some situations but not in other situations.  Say I have a login form with a password field.  If someone puts in a bad password (too short say).  I just want the normal "bad login/password" message, I dont want a "your password needs to be between 5 and 20 characters" or "your password needs to contain one upper and one number.." type messages during login.  Hope this makes sense.
